Buying with us...

We expect Cherries Court to be very attractive to those wanting to be home owners but not being able to afford to buy on the open market. In case there is over-demand, Bournemouth wants to give residents with a local connection the first chance to buy a home at Cherries Court.

What do we mean by ‘Local’?

The highest priority group is purchasers with a local connection to the development. In this case ‘local’ means the wards of Boscombe West, Boscombe East, East Cliff and Springbourne, Littledown, or Iford and West Southbourne.

Following this, potential purchasers from the rest of Bournemouth will be offered the chance to buy a home and if there are still houses left after that, purchasers from the rest of Dorset will be offered the chance to buy.

What do we mean by ‘Connection’?

There are three ways you can show you have a local connection:

If you have lived in the borough for at least 3 years when you send us your application form. If you have close relatives that have lived in the borough for at least the last 5 years at the time you apply; (parents, grandparents, or adult children). If you are employed, or have a firm offer of permanent employment in Bournemouth and the work is more than 16 hours a week and with a permanent contract when you apply.

(Note: There is one exception to this. Because the development is backed and partly funded by the Government, potential purchasers with certain military connections can purchase even if they do not have a Dorset connection).

I am not in the highest priority group- should I apply?

YES! Not all shared ownership homes always get bought by very local purchasers so it is definitely worth applying if you are in any of the priority groups.
